Delete these two catalogs by right-clicking on both and selecting 'Delete' from the drop-down menu. In case you need these original registry keys, back them up by exporting. Restart your computer when finished.

When your operating system is restarted, go to the 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/' location and import the keys stored on your USB drive into this location, and then close Registry Editor. Open Command Prompt by typing 'command prompt' in Search and right-click on the 'Command Prompt' result. Select 'Run as administrator' to run it with administrator privileges.

In the Command Prompt window, type in the following command: 'netsh winsock reset' and press Enter on your keyboard to execute it. Close Command Prompt and restart your computer. Check if this has helped to solve the 'Network protocol missing' problem.

Restart Your Router

In none of the above steps help you to solve the problem, try restarting your router. Simply turn it off, and then on again. You can also try resetting your router - this will restore your router to the factory settings. Use the 'Reset' button on your router to do this (usually on the back).

I just had this very annoying issue for a while, and scouring the internet proved to no avail. However, I stumbled upon the solution by myself. Simply go into an elevated command prompt and enter netsh int ipv4 install and restart your computer.
This is what solved the problem for me, though I had already tried a few suggestions (resetting winsock, giving permissions in NSI, etc) so that might have something to do with it.

this issue has plagued me forever since windows 10, and even slightly in windows 8.1. this issue would come randomly and i cant connect to internet even if i were a point blank in front of the router. running the troubleshooting does not fix it. the only way to fix it most of the time is to disable the wifi adapter for about 2 minutes and re enable it again. in some cases only a reboot can fix it and in rare cases it can only be fixed by uninstalling the wifi drivers and starting over.i have tried with 3 different wifi adapters, 2 computers and 2 routers.
it seems to struggle the most with connecting to optimum wifi/Xfinity wifi (which my laptop is added to my account) its mainly this optimum wifi here causing issues making router itself a issue but still. the other router is my 4g sprint hotspot, sometimes on rare occasion the same thing happens.

I've tried the following steps with no success 1) sfc /scannow. This showed no errors
2) netsh advfirewall reset netsh int ip reset*** netsh int ipv6 reset netsh int ipv4 reset netsh winsock reset *** This command did not work originally until I went to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControl and changed Control/NSI folder 26 permission to everyone (This box was unchecked again after reboot

- Did not work also, it gave me a new problem no ethernet something which troubleshoot can't also fix.

From one of my Windows 10 machines I am unable to access the shared folders on the other. The troubleshooter says 'One or more network protocols are missing on this computer' and 'Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing.'
I have run sfc /scannow, but no problems were found. I don't get the problem when sharing in the other direction or when accessing the shared folders on the same machine.
This comes amidst a cluster of sharing-related problems. Before the reboot after which the present problem manifested itself, shares going in the other direction were invisible in the network browser (but could be accessed via the search bar). Also, the machine in question does not appear in the HomeGroup browser even though it is a member of the HomeGroup.

Several times a day, my laptop's WiFi connection status changes from 'Internet access' to 'No internet'. When I use 'Troubleshoot problems', I get this: 'One or more network protocols are missing on this computer - Windows sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing'. Trying the 'perform repairs as administrator' fix does nothing, but restarting the computer lets me connect properly again. However, losing connectivity and restarting my computer every couple hours is getting irritating.
Earlier in the year I was getting the same message, but at that time simply restarting wouldn't fix it, I believe I needed to do either 'netsh winsock reset' or 'netsh int ip reset'. I honestly don't remember why it stopped happening, possibly changing away from Bitdefender antivirus (which fixed the BSOD problem I was having) worked. I haven't reinstalled Bitdefender, so I assume it's not that.

First a little back story: To make it short, I just I replaced the power supply in my PC, and disconnected/reconnected all cables, including data cables. We have 2 desktops, 2 convertibles and an hp tablet. We started with total mess network wise - tried most of the fixes and none really worked. I removed homegroup and started over making sure ALL units were in homegroup and still had problems. After many tries of fixes etc. I discovered two of the units were in different workgroups??
We are finally able to see all computers on all the computers but are left with two network drives which show up as media units but never show up and available in the computer area on all computers. Both show up fine on my desktop but never on any of the other units.
Have rebooted, checked settings and what to check now. We have used networking of some sort for years and depend on it - have been without it now for way too long.

I have 5 computers and 4 are running Windows 10. The machine I use as the main one I upgraded from Windows 7 ULT to Win 10 and have had little trouble but, my number 2 machine I added the insider preview 5 builds ago and since then, when trying to view all machines in explorer only the Computers come up yet, on the main machine no problem, all machines that are on the network show up. The pic on the left is the No 2 machine and the one on the right is the No 1 machine. I use assigned IP addresses on all the hardware that show up in No 1.

Missing network device - EXTERNALDRIVE Since the last Windows 10 update which I installed on Dec. 9 I am missing one devices in Explorer > Network on one of three network computers.
They are all present on the other two computers. One of these is Windows 10., the other is Vista Premium.

Our home network has a desktop and 3 laptops. The 3 laptops all print through the network to the printer attached to the desktop.
For some reason only 1 of the laptops now shows in the desktop network folder. The other 2 have vanished and cannot see the desktop either so no printing. I have tried running both Homegroups and using names & passwords but no difference. I also have a server on the network and that has vanished.
I have checked the credentials and all passwords and names are correct.
I have removed Avast anti-virus and have Windows firewall set to default settings running with Defender.
Windows 10 is the latest version 1511 on all the PCs.
